West Valley has the competitive edge for preparing honors students for college admission and success. Honors classes are rigorous, college-level courses for serious, self-motivated, and self-disciplined students.

        CHS example of cost savings:
        College-in-the-High-School classes are articulated with four year colleges.  There is a reduced tuition cost for West Valley students.

        Cost per credit for CHS credit via UW = $69.50 per credit

        Cost per credit for regular college credit at UW Seattle Campus = $358.40 per credit

        CHS Chemistry, full year at West Valley High School = 10 credits

        A West Valley student will pay $695 for the 10 CHS credits.  The cost to take the 10 credits on the UW Seattle campus would be $3,584.

        Every student who earns CHS credits for the full year of CHS Chemistry at West Valley saves their family $2,889.

        Tech Prep example of cost savings:
        Tech Prep classes are articulated with community colleges.  There is no cost to West Valley students.

        Cost per credit for TechPrep via YVC = $0 per credit

        Cost per credit for regular college credit at YVC = $114.91

        A student who takes West Valley’s one semester class, Child Psychology, is able to earn Tech Prep credit for YVC’s Child Care Basics class (3 credits) and Introduction to Early Childhood Education (5 credits).

        The cost to take 8 credits at YVC would be $919.28.  There is no cost to students for Tech Prep credits when completed in high school.  Every student who earns Tech Prep credit for this one semester class at West Valley High School saves their family $919.28.
