Millionaire's Club at Cottonwood

THE MILLIONAIRE’S CLUB AT COTTONWOOD ELEMENTARY

Last year, Cottonwood launched The Millionaire’s Club in connection with the Accelerated Reader (AR) program. It is a fun way to recognize the outstanding efforts of our kids and to help motivate more students to READ, READ, and READ!

With the AR program, students read a book and then take a computerized comprehension quiz. Teachers work with their students to make reasonable, yet challenging, goals each semester. Along with earning points, the AR program keeps a count of the number of words students read.

Student names are posted on our banners leading to the “The Millionaire’s Club” at Cottonwood. Students in Kindergarten through second grade get their name posted on the banners beginning with 10,000 words read. Students in Grades 3-5 get their name posted beginning with 50,000 words read.

These banners are located in the hallway outside the school’s Computer Lab. Last year, we had 20 students join the Millionaire’s Club! Currently, we have four students in the club and two of those students are Multi-Millionaires! As we finish the first semester of the 2024/25 school year, over 120 student names are posted, currently, on word count banner!
