West Valley "Dollars for Scholars"

West Valley "Dollars for Scholars" (WVDFS) is a chapter of Scholarship America, which provides information, training, and operational structure to local chapters. Scholarship America has many collegiate partnerships throughout the United States, some of which match local awards.

West Valley joined Dollars for Scholars in 1994 when only seven local scholarships were given to graduating seniors. This May, 64 community scholarships were awarded to the Class of 2024. Recipients are selected by an independent awards committee and based on scored student applications. WVDFS raises funds for scholarships by sponsoring senior signs, an annual golf tournament in May and legacy bricks. Contributions are also received from local groups, local businesses, memorials from families, West Valley School District employees, and individual donations.

WVDFS would like to thank you and the community for your encouragement of students and for your participation in our events. Your continued support of our organization improves the educational opportunities for our youth, giving them hope for a promising future and reinforces the power of community in students’ lives.
