West Valley Receives National Recognition

Oct 15, 2021

West Valley Junior High history teacher Bradley Liebrecht received national honors earlier this year when he was nominated for the Teacher of the Year award by the National History Day organization. The nomination is quite an honor since only one teacher in each state is selected in the junior and senior divisions each year. And the honor was well-earned. Earlier this year, Mr. Liebrecht helped coach 24 West Valley students who competed in the Central Washington National History Day Regional contest. Students brought home six award-winning projects and three honorable mentions.

For his nomination, Mr. Liebrecht received a $500 prize and went on to compete against the other nominated teachers across the country. While top prize went to Suzanne Zmijewski Lim of Belmont, Massachusetts, Mr. Liebrecht is still our first choice for teacher of the year and we’re so proud of all he’s done to make history exciting and relevant to our students at West Valley. Thank you, Mr. Liebrecht!
